Windsor Castle from the Thames
Wednesday afternoon and we decided to go bobbing about on the water!

“Let’s take a boat out on the river, dad” suggested Charlie. “Forget it!” exclaimed Chloe not mad keen on water but today she was out voted... the Thames, here we come.

The weather was great after a mixed up morning. The sun shone for the hour we were out on the Thames and as we came under the main road bridge, the view that beheld us reminded us why we are so lucky to live in Windsor, Berkshire.

Windsor Castle, magnificent in the sunlight, many turrets towering towards the sky and the Union Jack flying proud above the town, reminding us that we are proud to be British... excellent! To the right there was the Windsor Wheel waiting to take tourists for a spin, great fun for those who enjoy heights!

If you’ve never taken a boat out on the river then if you’re not planning on entering the 2012 Olympics or trying to impress a lady, then I suggest you go for the motorised kind. Costs a few quid more but is much more fun and very relaxing.

We headed west for 25 minutes and ended up at a lock, the perfect time to spin the boat round and head back, past the racecourse, under Eton Bridge, another about turn and back to the dock within the hour, excellent fun.

We saw swans, ducks of all kinds! Dragon flies of many different colours, all bobbing around on the water looking for their next meal... or to be the next meal!

It was great to get out of the office for a couple of hours, do something completely different, hang with the gang and then order a Chinese takeaway, as if we were on holiday ... but even better we still got to sleep in our own beds!
